Knot-thing to see here. 2008

This little guy is about seven inches tall and less than an inch thick.  The type of wood is unknown because it was found at the base of a waterfall in a stream bed outside of Seattle, WA.   I started this project off wanting to carve something quickly (in less than two hours).  I accomplished my goal.  The knot in the center makes a nice focal point in the piece.  I feel like it's always best to incorporate unique features of the wood into the carving, be it a crack, a knot, a rock, or just a very interesting grain formation.  The quirky grin and sideways glance add a little interest to this piece.
