At the request of a friend I carved this U.S. Navy logo pumpkin. A friend of my friend who had served for years in the Navy passed away recently and this pumpkin was one way I could contribute to the memorial.
Pumpkins are a great material to use to practice carving skills. The best tools I've found for pumpkin carving are actually clay sculpting tools called loop tools. They feature a wooden handle with a metal loop on the end that is sharp enouch to sculpt pumpkin. It's incredible what you can do with the correct tool.
