Lilac garden sculpture 2014

This piece is made from a lilac that I trimmed back in our yard.   It has a large crack that extends down the entire length of the branch and into the face at the top.  This is a common trait in lilac wood, and I expect the piece to continue cracking as it gets weathered.  The lines that you see extending in spirals down the sides of the trunk are extensions of some of the larger splits.  My hope is that it will crack vertically, splitting the face in an interesting way, but leaving it mostly intact.
