Chess set II, in progress. Walnut wood

The chess set pictured below is  the second one that i have attempted.   The first set i finished almost ten years ago,  and although i loved the result, carving thirty two individual pieces can be tiresome,  especially since there are sixteen pawns.  With that in mind,  I  decided to start this new set by carving the pawns first because they are the most time consuming.   I'm also trying to design pieces in such a way that  they will be faster to produce.

I decided to use walnut wood for the black pieces because it is one of the darker woods that i have access to.   Particularly after being stained with walnut oil, the pieces will turn a darker shade of brown.  I still have not selected the wood to be used for the white pieces.
